Historic Exchange District

Welcome to the Residents of the Exchange District website. As residents of this heritage area in central Winnipeg, we are working to make the district not only a better place, but a better community.

Formed in 2008, Residents of the Exchange District, or R:ED for short, consists of residents of Winnipeg's historic Exchange District, a National Historic Site, consisting of a twenty city block area  containing nearly 150 heritage buildings (map). 

As residents, we face the usual challenges of downtown living combined with the newness of the urban lifestyle in Winnipeg.  Added to the mix is the historic nature of this area.  The current group of residents, feeling a bit like trail-blazers are banding together to look at some of the issues with a view to creating a community that provides a rich and vibrant urban lifestyle.

This web site is meant to act as a central repository for information on our group, discussions on key issues and links to other sites of interest. We welcome your input and comments.
