The role of the BIZ is to bring local businesses together to promote the area, to improve the District's physical appearance, to support events that attract people to the community, and to play an advocacy role for local business on issues of common concern.

The Downtown BIZ site includes info on the many benefits of living downtown, services and transportation details and current happenings in the greater downtown area.
CentreVenture Development expedites development and encourages new retail, housing and commercial ventures in the downtown area. They emphasize rejuvenation of heritage buildings and development of vacant or underutilized downtown property.
The research in this report has been compiled by the Downtown BIZ from other stakeholders like CentreVenture Development Corporation, The Forks North Portage Partnership and Destination Winnipeg, as well as from surveys and pedestrian counts the BIZ has undertaken in the last three years.
